BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHING RESOURCES UTILIZATION FOR ACADEMIC STAFF JOB PERFORMANCE

This study investigated business education teaching resources utilization for academic staff job performance in federal and state universities in South-West and South-South, Nigeria. Three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. Population of the study consisted of 121 academic staff from all the 12 universities offering business education in South-West and South-South, Nigeria. Sample size of the study constituted all the 121 academic staff selected from the 12 universities teaching business education using purposive sampling technique. A 39-item questionnaire titled: “Academic Staff Utilization of Business Education Teaching Resources for Job Performance Questionnaire (ASUBETRAJPQ)" was used to conduct the study. Validity and reliability of the research instrument were established. Data were analyzed using mean score statistics at 2.50 and standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested using t-test statistics at 0.05 significance level. The findings indicated among others that: the available electronic, non-electronic and physical plant business education teaching resources were utilized by the academic staff in Federal and State universities to a low extent. The hypotheses tested indicated among others that there was a significant difference between the mean ratings of academic staff in Federal and State universities on extent of academic staff utilization of available electronic business education teaching resources. Among the recommendations proffered included that the Vice-Chancellors, Deans and Heads of various Departments (HODs) in the universities should supervise business education academic staff classroom activities to ensure that lecturers effectively utilize these electronic, non-electronic and physical plant teaching resources.
