AN ASSESSMENT OF THE STATUS OF THE MATRIX PROJECT MANAGEMENT ON ADEQUATE TIME MANAGEMENT FOR TIMELY PROJECT DELIVERY BY OIL AND GAS INDUSTRIES IN KOKORI, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

This research presents an Assessment of the Status of the Matrix Project Management on Adequate Time Management for Timely Project Delivery by Oil and Gas Industries in Kokori, Delta State, Nigeria. The specific objectives; the creation of project plans for construction projects, determining dependencies in the project planning and execution, and estimation of durations and resources required in the area.  A descriptive survey design was adopted for this study and a sample size of 37 was obtained from a total population of 89 using the Castillo Model as the sample size determination technique. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. Measurement of central tendency and measurement of dispersion was used to analyze collected data with the help of Microsoft Office Excel. Formulated hypotheses were tested using Z-test. Supervisors and other employees of the three companies under study believe that Matrix Project management status facilitates to a great extent, the creation of an effective project plan, determination of project dependencies, and the effective estimation of durations and resources required for projects in the area. Also, the test on the formulated null hypotheses shows that there is no significant difference in the mean response of other employees and supervisors on the extent Matrix Project management status facilitates the creation of an effective project plan; the determination of project dependencies, and the effective estimation of durations and resources required for projects in the area. From the results, analysis, and findings, it can be concluded that both Supervisors and other employees of the three companies under study believe that Matrix Project management status facilitates the timely delivery of projects by enabling the development of an effective project plan; determination of project dependencies and development of project estimate of durations and resources needed for the delivery of community development based projects in the area. It is recommended that companies carrying out community development based projects in community development-based projects should adopt the Matrix project management structure for faster project delivery
