Abstract

The study examined the link between electronic governance (E-Gov) and public sector service delivery (PSSD) from selected government ministries and departments. The purpose of this study was aimed at analysing critical issues that challenged the application and utilisation of E-Gov infrastructures and techniques in Nigeria public organisations. The paper employed descriptive statistics to ascertain the effect of E-Gov on effective service delivery in the selected MDAs in south eastern states and the possible challenges in E-Gov administration in the study area.  The data collection method used was questionnaire and data analysed using Analysis of Variance via Special Package on Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings reveal that most government employees are faced with the challenge of PSSD due to lack of adequate E-Gov facilities, poor funding, E-Gov capacity building, and poor access to internet services in government offices amongs others. This pattern of E-Gov practices and institutional challenges as reviewed shows why and how an emerging public sector with these characteristics will continue to lose relevance in this era of globalisation and public sector service innovations (PSSIs). The study opines that a new E-Gov service reforms (EGSRs) should be sufficiently enabled financially through a sustainable e-governance impact assessment (SEGIA) model as a strategy for addressing E-Gov policy challenges and to ensure quality, timely and result-oriented PSSD across various government agencies and establishments.
