Abstract

This research evaluated the impact of Covid 19 pandemic on teaching and learning in Nigeria. The following objectives were raised for the study: analyzing the impact of enforcing quarantine of corona virus pandemic on teaching and learning in Nigeria; evaluating the effect of social distancing of corona virus on teaching and learning in Nigeria, assessing how wearing nose mask of corona virus effects on teaching and learning in Nigeria, as well as examining the effect of online conferencing of corona virus on teaching and learning in Nigeria. From the objectives, research questions were organically formulated to procure pertinent responses which aided quantitative evaluations of responses for logical conclusions: what impact has enforcing quarantine of corona virus pandemic on teaching and learning in Nigeria?; how does social distancing of corona virus affect teaching and learning in Nigeria; to what extent does wearing nose mask of corona virus affect teaching and learning in Nigeria as well as ;what effect has online conferencing of corona virus on teaching and learning in Nigeria ? Consequently, it was discovered that: though originated from China, covid-19 pandemic had dangerous tone on Nigeria and its school system. An particularly, teaching and learning in Nigeria was hampered. It was concluded that covid-19 pandemic had costly toll on teaching and learning in Nigeria. After logical evaluations and sequential cum qualitative reasoning, and subjective evaluations of the questions in the face of teaching and learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, the following were discovered : to address the challenge of teaching and learning more teachers should be appointed ; there should be statutory time for every teaching ; administrators of the school system should review the current curriculum to accommodate current changes ; there should be provisions for virtual conferences, webinars, frontloading of evidence electronically, and electronic teachings.
