Abstract

The study assesses the impact of population growth on water scarcity in Oji-River local government area of Enugu state. The specific objectives include the effect of proper infrastructure on water resources and the effect of water waste on the water resources in Oji-River LGA Enugu state. The study adopts a primary source of data where a well structure questionnaire was used to data. the data were analyzed using a descriptive and inferential statistics of SPSS 29.0 a statistical package for social sciences. The finding revealed that proper infrastructure contributes significantly to improve the water resources with the AdjR2 = 0.611; F-Stat. = 15.18; P-value = 0.001. while water waste contributes significantly to improve water resources with the AdjR2 = 0.420; F-Stat. = 23.13; P-value = 0.006 in Oji-River LGA of Enugu state. We concluded that population growth has significant effect on water scarcity in Oji-River local government area of Enugu state. We recommend that the government endeavor to supply excess to equal above the population to reduce the rate of water scarcity in Oji-River local government area of Enugu state
