Abstract

 

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected people’s lives, world economies and the public health threat it represents is the most serious seen in a respiratory virus since the 1918 H1N1 influenza pandemic. In the absence of a vaccine or an effective treatment, the rapid spread of this disease elicited a wide range of responses from different governments across the globe to contain the spread of the pandemic. Within the framework of social constructionist theory, this study examined the effect of health policy implementation on Coronavirus Pandemic (Covid-19) management in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria. The study was guided by two research questions and hypotheses. The study adopted the survey design. It relied on primary and secondary data, and multiple stage sampling technique was used to select the sample population.  The data collected were presented in frequency table, pie chart and simple percentage. Simple Regression Analyses statistical technique was used with the aid of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to test the research hypothesis. Findings of the study show that social distancing has significant effect on team work in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, at the conventional 5percent levels. Given the pivotal role that health and safety plays in human life, federal government of Nigeria should create hazards emergency risk management framework that could strengthens the ability of country to prevent and tackle health emergencies such as Covi-19 cannot be overemphasised.
