Abstract

The study examined the impact of waste management cost disclosure on corporate financial performance of quoted oil companies in Nigeria. The main objective of the study was to ascertain the impact waste management cost disclosure has on corporate performance of quoted oil companies in Nigeria. Secondary data were sourced from the Nigerian Stock Exchange Fact Book. A total of 9 companies quoted on Nigerian Stock Exchange for a period ten years from (2010 - 2020) was used. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The results revealed that waste management cost disclosure has negative insignificant effect on corporate performance of quoted oil companies in Nigeria. The study therefore concludes that waste management cost disclosure have negative and insignificant impact on corporate performance of quoted oil companies in Nigeria. This implies that decrease in waste management cost disclosure will decrease a company’s corporate financial performance The study recommends that management of oil companies in Nigeria should increase spending on waste management disclosure to boost their performance.
