Abstract

Hypertension, often dubbed the "silent killer," is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease and premature death globally. Despite the widespread use of antihypertensive medications, the prevalence of hypertension has increased, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This study explores the risk factors, complications, and the critical importance of preventing and managing hypertension. It also discusses the economic impact, the necessity of comprehensive public health strategies, and the role of lifestyle modifications in mitigating hypertension. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for improved awareness, better access to healthcare, and the implementation of effective management and prevention strategies to combat this pervasive health issue
