DIGITALIZATION OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE ON ETHICAL STANDARD IN THE NIGERIA PUBLIC SECTOR

The study examines the impact of digitalized corporate governance on ethical standard in the Nigeria public sector. Over time the activities of the Nigeria public sector have been criticized for not meeting the expectations of the citizens due to lack of proper accountability. The study adopts the exploratory method to examine the core variables in the paper and secondary data which comprises of recent journals, periodical, national dailies, textbooks and online materials were used to source for information. The paper is anchored on two theories namely the principal-agent and social contract theory respectively. The study reveals that the variety and sometimes conflicting objectives in the public sector are not always making it possible to operationally specify how performance is measured. This study concludes that accountability acts as a quality control device for unethical and administrative corruption in the public service and so, the public as citizens and stakeholders can expect to have trust and receive the best service delivery. The study recommends among others that, adapting the mission of the public service to current needs and ensuring that its core values and standards meet changing public expectations should be made key challenges for governments in a rapidly changing world.
