EFFECT OF SAFETY PLANNING ON THE EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION OF PHARMACEUTICAL FIRMS IN ENUGU STATE.

The study examined the effect of safety planning on the employee job satisfaction of pharmaceutical firms in Enugu State. The specific objectives were to; examine the effect of investing in workplace safety on the employee supportive working condition; effect of safety practices on the employee supportive colleagues and effect of safety planning on the job security of pharmaceutical firms in Enugu State. The area of the study comprised of six (6) selected Pharmaceutical manufacturing firms. These firms were: AC Drugs, Juhel ,Gudoc, Nemel, Michelle And Bulger Pharmaceuticals firms. The study used the descriptive survey design approach. A total population of 1428 selected staff of the study organisations. Sample size of three hundred and two (302) using Freund and William's statistic formula at 5 percent margin of error. Two hundred and eighty six (286) staff returned the questionnaire and accurately filled. Data was presented and analyzed by mean score and standard deviation using Likert Scale. The hypotheses were analyzed using Z – test statistic tool. The findings of study showed that Investing in workplace safety had positive effect on employee supportive working condition. Safety practices had positive effect on employee supportive colleagues and Safety planning had positive effect on job security of the firms in Enugu State. The concluded that effect of safety planning had positive effect on the employee job satisfaction of pharmaceutical firms in Enugu State. The study recommended that management of the firms should be encouraged to Investing in workplace safety to reduce the frequency and duration of injuries.
