Abstract

This study has been carried out to examine the impact of integrated reporting on the performance of corporate firms in Nigeria. Integrated reporting provides material and substantial information about an entity's prospects, governance, strategy and actions that serve as a reflection of social and commercial viability within the holistic environment in which it operates. The drive for integrated reports is to fill the gap in the subsisting financial reporting framework which places greater and near absolute, premium on meeting the information needs of financial capital providers. Thus, in integrated reports, along with financial information the critical non-financial aspects that affects the reputation, performance and sustainability of the firm are also required to be reported by the companies. The objective of this study is to review extant literature on integrated reporting and corporate entities performance in Nigeria. The methodology adopted for this study is library approach which focuses on content review of extant literature. We concluded on the need for a comprehensive report by firms which will take into consideration the needs of such entities in a single report, integrated reports. We recommended that Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) should mandate firms across all sectors to adopt the integrated reporting standard.
