Abstract

The study evaluated the effect of Dividend payment on corporate Performance of Zenith Bank of Nigeria, 2011-2020. Specific objectives include to: determine the effect of earnings per share on corporate performance in zenith banks plc of Nigeria and investigate the effect of dividend yield on corporate performance in zenith banks plc of Nigeria. The research adopted the ex post facto design, multiple regression analysis and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression technique for the analysis of date so collected. The findings revealed that earnings per share had positive and significant effect on corporate performance of zenith banks plc of Nigeria and dividend yield had a positive and significant effect on corporate performance of zenith banks plc of Nigeria. From the findings, this study recommended that Zenith banks should follow a dividend policies that will constantly involve paying dividends annually. This will be in line with the classical school believes that dividends are paid to influence share prices and the market price of equity.
