There are total number of sixteen government approved secondary schools and seven private secondary school with total number of three thousand, one hundred and twenty JSS (2) students which serves as the population for the study. A sample of eight junior secondary schools was selected from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA of Rivers State. 12 students were randomly selected from the 8 schools which came to a total of (96) students. Three research questions were formulated three hypotheses were tested. The data collected was analyzed using simple descriptive methods of mean and standard deviation (SD) to answer the three research questions. T-test was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The results among others revealed that the students in private secondary schools performed better in their reading skills than their mates in the public secondary school among others. Based on these results, it was concluded that both the private and the public confirmed the reading disabilities in junior secondary schools and called for implementation of word attack strategy in teaching English. It is also the primary concern of her founder (John 17). The uniformity in her liturgy also depicts this necessary character of the Church. She has equally upheld this in her magisterial teachings. In practice, there appears to be some conspicuous cracks here and there. Apparent discriminations on the ground of sex, race, education and even religious affiliation are undeniable. The Holy Father, Pope Francis has so rightly and timely called for a synod on synodality. He calls on the Church to an all-inclusiveness as defined in her character of unity. In Eph 4,1-6 the author posits this as the vocation of all Christians. This paper views Paul’s clarion call with an exegetical lens. It sees it as the Church’s imperative if she would succeed in her evangelical mission. The paper adopts exegetical method and then evaluates it with a hermeneutical application, calling all to a unity in diversity as a way to realization of her divinely assigned mission of evangelization
Dominic Obielosi Justice Ihetu Chiamaka Chigboh Copyright (c) 2024 Advance Journal Of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences 2024-03-26 2024-03-26 7 2 13 27 PEACE OF ESCAPE AND PEACE OF CONQUEST VIS-À-VIS JUST WAR THEORY: A STUDY OF JOHN 14:27 https://aspjournals.org/ajahss/index.php/ajahss/article/view/67
Deep in the heart of every man is the desire for peace and progress. The same could be said of the world at large at least in principle. It is considered a necessity such that war is often resorted to as a way to actualize this utmost desire. In fact, people like George Washington is quoted as believing that to be prepared for war is one of the effective means of preserving peace. The world wars; civil wars in different countries; tribal and inter-tribal wars are all geared towards realization of peace, unfortunately, the best thing that war has only given mankind is peace of escape. Martin Luther (Jr.) observes that war is the greatest plague that can afflict humanity; it destroys religion, it destroys states, it destroys families. Any scourge is preferable to it. The researcher without submitting to pacifism believes that what the world needs is peace of conquest rather peace of escape. Thus, this paper employs exegetical lens to examine John 14,27 from the backdrop of Just War Theory. It projects Peace of Conquest as the ultimate solution to mankind’s quest for peace. It also tenders six action plans as recommendation to the actualization of this all-important peace of conquest. This is followed by evaluation and conclusion
Dominic Obielosi Justice Ihetu Chiamaka Chigboh Copyright (c) 2024 Advance Journal Of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences 2024-03-26 2024-03-26 7 2 28 48
