THE IMPACT OF TETFUND RESEARCH GRANT ON THE TRAINING OF ACADEMIC STAFF IN NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, AWKA

This study examined the impact of TETFund research grant on the training of academic staff in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Specifically the study sought to determine whether TETFund provision of physical infrastructure and equipment has enhanced academic staff teaching effectiveness, as well as explore the relationship between TETEFund funding of training and career development programmes and academic staff competencies in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The study was anchored on human capital development theory. The study employed descriptive survey research design with the use of both primary and secondary data. The data collected was analysed using frequency counts, percentage, mean scores and standard deviation to answer the research questions while T-test statistical tool was used to the test of hypotheses with aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Version 16.0). The findings show that there is a significant positive relationship between TETFund financing of physical infrastructure and academic staff teaching effectiveness in NAU, Awka. Also, there is a significant positive relationship between TETFund funding of training and competencies of academic staff in NAU, Awka. The study recommends
