Without sufficient plant and animal intake of potassium, life as we know it would cease. Human and other animals in the food chain depend upon plants for much of their nutritional needs. This paper focuses on the assessment of potash mining in Kirikasanma Local Government Areas of Jigawa State, Nigeria with the primary purpose of examining the socio-economic importance of potash mining on communities. To achieve this, mixed method approach was adopted focusing on 110 respondents. It was revealed that, 82.4% of respondents were those that spent 0-5years in the mining activities thus, respondents showing an increasing number of people participating in the potash mining. The study also revealed that potash mining provided job opportunities to the local communities of the areas and also it serve as a means of revenue generation by the government. Appropriate recommendations were proffered
