IMPACTS OF CULTURAL BELIEFS AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS FLY-TIPPING AND WASTE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES: A CASE STUDY OF WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
Keywords:
Fly-tipping, West Northamptonshire, Waste Management Practices, Cultural Beliefs, Innovation and TechnologyAbstract
The present research study examines fly-tipping and waste management in West Northamptonshire. The study evaluates cultural beliefs and attitudes towards fly-tipping and waste management in West Northamptonshire. To achieve this, the mixed methodology was used. Both quantitative and qualitative method was utilised. A survey was conducted from the population of West Northamptonshire.
Moreover, six interviews were conducted, among which three were policymakers, and three were community members. The survey results were analysed using statistical analysis. For qualitative analysis, thematic data analysis was used. The findings of the study indicated high unfamiliarity from the policies regarding the policies of West Northamptonshire among the community members. Due to this, a lack of understanding regarding the cultural impact of fly-tipping was found. However, a significant number of participants were concerned about the issue of fly-tipping. The results highlight community engagement and communication plans to overcome the lack of familiarity with the policies and understanding of the cultural impact on fly-tipping and waste management. The research emphasised that policies should incorporate cultural sensitivity to the fly-tipping policies to promote better environmental practices
