THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN JOURNALISM IN NIGERIA

Abstract

The study examined the role of artificial intelligence in Journalism in Nigeria. The technology acceptance model provided the theoretical framework for the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted while 150 Journalists were purposively selected to form the sample. A self- structured questionnaire was used to gather data. The data collected were presented and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results obtained revealed that AI tools have improved the efficiency of news reporting in organizations. Also, majority of respondents believe that AI can enhance the accuracy of news reports. Social media contents on drug plays a significant role in educating people. hat integrating AI into journalism reduces the creativity required in news writing. The study recommends that governments should establish clear regulations and guidelines for the use of AI in journalism to address ethical concerns, ensure transparency, and protect job security.
